Nahe Valley Attractions
The Nahe rises near Selbach in the southern Hunsrück and follows a winding course amid forests, pastureland and steep rock faces before flowing into the Rhine at Bingen. Its total length is 116km/72mi.
Along the banks of the Nahe are a series of picturesque little towns - Idar-Oberstein, the town of jewelry and precious stones; Kirn, with the ruined Kyrburg looming over it; Bad Münster am Stein, at the foot of the porphyry wall of the Rheingrafenstein; and, opposite Bad Münster, the Ebernburg, birthplace of the celebrated knight Franz von Sickingen (1481-1523) and refuge of the humanist Ulrich von Hutten.
