Mecklenburg Lake District Attractions

 
The Mecklenburg lakes - well over a thousand in number, large and small - lie in an upland region in the Northern Morainic Ridge, partly forest-covered, partly arable land and pasture. This is an increasingly popular holiday region. Many of the lakes are linked by rivers (the Elde, the Havel, the Warnow, the Nebel, the Peene, the Ücker) or canals, with endless scope for boating and camping holidays.

The lakes are particularly numerous in the western part of the Mecklenburg lake district (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte), around the Schweriner See (alt.
