Leer (East Friesland) Attractions
Thie old town of Leer on the river Leda, near its junction with the Ems, styles itself the "gateway to East Friesland". Its red-brick buildings show the influence of the Early Baroque architecture of the Netherlands.
Leer - Crypt
To the north of Leer, in the Protestant cemetery, is a 12th C. crypt, all that remains of the church of St Ludger.
Leer - Evenburg
To the east of Leer's town center stands the Evenburg, a 17th C. moated castle (altered in the 19th C.) in a beautiful park.
Leer - Haneburg
In the west of Leer's old town can be found the Haneburg, a 17th C. Renaissance building which is now occupied by the Volkshochschule (adult education center).
Leer - Harbor
By the harbor in Leer are the neo-Renaissance Town Hall (Rathaus; 1892) and the Alte Waage (Old Weigh-House; 1714).

In Leer's eastern district of Logabirum lies the Waldzoo-Park, a leisure park with an animal enclosure.
