Lahnstein lies on both banks of the Lahn at its junction with the Rhine. On the left bank is Oberlahnstein, with remains of its old walls and the richly decorated Old Town Hall (Late Gothic, 15th C.). The Hexenturm (Witches' Tower) houses the Municipal Museum. To the east of the town are the Kurthermen Rhein-Lahn (baths, 30°C/86°F and 36°C/97°F).
Niederlahnstein has preserved one or two old aristocratic mansions. At Lahnstrasse 8 is a famous old inn, a half-timbered building of 1697 on 14th C. foundations. East of the town rises the Allerheiligenberg, on the summit of which are a monastery and a pilgrimage church.
