Krakow am See Attractions

The little spa of Krakow lies on the shores of the Krakower See, an irregularly shaped lake dotted with islands, in a well-wooded region with many lakes.

The Stadtkirche (Town Church) is a long rectangular brick building originally founded in 1230. The present structure dates from 1762. The most notable features of the interior are the reredos and pulpit (both 1705) and the north gallery (1744) decorated with coats of arms.

There are charming views from the hills around the town of the beautiful landscape of forest and lakes.

The Krakower See (Lake Krakow) has an area of 15.9 sq. km/6 sq. mi. One of the most beautiful nature reserves in the region is the Krakower Obersee (bird nesting area; pleasure craft prohibited).

The Untersee is a landscape reserve.

In the surrounding area are numerous "Huns' graves" (megalithic chamber tombs; Serrahn, Marienhof, etc.), burial mounds (Kuchelmiss, Serrahn, Charlottenthal, Gross Tessin, Klein Tessin) and ring-shaped stone-settings (at Bellin and on the island of Lindwerder).
