Kaiserslautern Attractions
The old "Barbarossa town" of Kaiserslautern, situated at the intersection of important traffic routes, is the cultural and economic center of the Palatinate Forest (Pfälzerwald), with a university (1970) and the Palatinate Theater (Pfalztheater).
Pfalzgalerie
In Museumsplatz, in the north of Kaiserslautern, is the Landesgewerbeanstalt (Craft Institute), with the Pfalzgalerie (19th and 20th C. art).

To the northeast of the Museumsplatz, near the Mainzer Tor (Mainz Gate; Kaiserbrunnen, by Gernot Rumpf), is the Theodor Zink Museum (Heimatmuseum; periodic special exhibitions).
