Danube Valley Attractions

Länder: Baden-Wurttemberg and Bavaria

With a total course of 2,840km/1,765mi, the Danube (Donau) is Europe's second longest river (after the Volga). Along its course runs an ancient traffic route, followed by the Nibelungs on their way to the court of King Etzel (Attila) and their own destruction. The Romans built forts and settlements along its banks, and in later centuries these were followed by monastic houses and princely residences.

Boat services

The present-day tourist can see the beauties of the Danube valley on the motor-ships which travel down the river from Regensburg to Passau (and from there on to the Black Sea).
