Bottrop Attractions

The town of Bottrop, on the northern edge of the Ruhr industrial area, owes its origin to a village named Borgthorpe which first appears in the records in the 11th century. It developed rapidly when coal began to be mined here in 1863. It claims to be the mining town with the largest area of parks and gardens.
