Baden Region Attractions

Baden is made up of a conglomeration of districts, with most lying in the foothills of the Black Forest leading into the Rhine Rift Valley. The scenery is spectacular with the peaks of the Black Forest in the background. The hills also provide protection for the vines from cold easterly winds.

It is a large region, host to a variety of climates. For the traveler in this region there is an abundant selection of quality restaurants.

The Scholss Ortenberg, south of Durbach it was established as a research center in 1950.
Ettlingen - Schloss, Germany
8km/5mi south of Karlsruhe lies the town of Ettlingen, with a former Margravial palace (1728-33), with a beautiful chapel with frescoes by C. D. Asam. There is also a museum. The Schlossfestspiele (Festival) takes place in June/August.

At weekends in summer there are trips in an old steam train through the Alb valley to Bad Herrenalb.
