Geelong - Surroundings

There are a number of interesting old settlements in the immediate neighborhood of Geelong (Fyansford, Batesford, Lara). Other possible excursions are by way of Batesford to Anakie and Anakie Gorge, to the south of Brisbane Ranges National Park (Bacchus Marsh), continuing to Steiglitz (old courthouse).

A popular day trip from Geelong is to the Bellarine Peninsula, with the towns of Queenscliff, Portarlington, Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads. South of Geelong is Torquay with its fine surfing beaches, where the 300km long Great Ocean Road begins.
