Fribourg - Place Georges-Python

From the Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville in Fribourg, the busy Rue de Lausanne or the Route des Alpes (views) both lead to Place Georges-Python (610 m/2,001ft), at the top of a funicular from Neuveville (Place du Perthuis). On the east side of the square stands the Bishop's Palace (Palais Episcopal). Higher up, to the north, are the Albertinium, a seminary, the Cantonal and University Library (Bibliothèque Cantonale) and the Jesuit church of St Michel, with the tomb of St Peter Canisius (Hundlinger, 1521-97), the "first German Jesuit".
