Fribourg round-trip drive
Circuit on the right bank of the Sarine: 4.5km/3mi from the cathedral cross the river on the Pont du Zähringen and turn right past the Tour Rouge; cross the Pont du Gotteron, with a fine view of the town, and continue past the Tour du Dürrenbühl to the west end of the village of Bourguillon (alt. 658 m/2,159ft; church of 15th-18th C.); then sharp right along the Beau Chemin to the Porte de Bourguillon, beyond which, to the right, is the chapel of Notre-Dame de Lorette (1648), with a view of the town; beyond this, to the right, the chapel of St-Jost (1684) and, to the left, the Capuchin friary of Montorge, founded in 1626; then down into the Planche quarter, returning to the upper town either by way of the Pont du Milieu and Auge or by the Pont St-Jean and Neuveville.
