Fribourg - Cathedral of St Nicholas
To the east of Fribourg's Town Hall stands the Cathedral of St Nicholas (Gothic, 14th and 15th C.) on the former site of a Romanesque building. Its front tower measures 76 m/249ft and above the main doorway are fine 14th and 15th C. sculptures (Apostles, Angelic Salutation; Last Judgment in the tympanum). At the south door is a 14th C. representation of the Three Kings.

Notable features of the interior are the pulpit, font (1498), choir screen (1474) and choir-stalls (15th C. Antoine Peneys), modern stained glass by Joseph de Mehoffer, a famous organ by Alois Mooser and the treasure in the sacristy.
