Jaegerspris Castle Description
On the Hornsherred spit of land 6.5 km/4 mi west of Frederikssund, Jægerspris Castle stands in a magnificent wood. The three-winged building, which has been extended several times, was once a hunting lodge and the summer residence of King Frederik VII. In the castle park stand memorials by J. Wiedeveldt to famous Danes, Norwegians and Holsteiners. The King's consort, Countess Danner, owned a fashion house before her marriage; she is buried in the park, and there are commemorative rooms in the south wing. North of the castle lie the beautiful Nordskoven, or Northern Woods.
