Graves Region Attractions

Graves is a region surrounding the city of Bordeaux.

Graves' largest and most important estates are found directly south of Bordeaux.

Most travelers base themselves in Bordeaux. There is a signposted route, the Circuit Touristique de Graves, which winds past many significant châteaux.

The Maison des Vins de Graves is in Podensac, just north of Cérons on the N113. It provides information on the châteaux open to the public, including Haut-Brion, Haut-Bailly and de Chevalier. Most require advance notice from visitors.
Château Labrède
Château de Labrède is a romantic 13th c. moated castle which was the birthplace and home of the politician, writer and philosopher Charles de Segondat, Baron de La Breède and de Montesquieu. The library contains more than 7,000 works.
To the south of Bordeaux is the Château Labrède, in which Montesquieu was born in 1689. Southeast of Bordeaux, in Cadillac, is the Château d'Epernon (16th-17th century), with eight monumental chimneypieces.
