Fort Saint Louis Description
The first structure on this location was build in 1638. It was a small wooden fort which was named Fort Royal. It was later reinforced with a moat and stone walls. Under British occupation in 1762, 1794, and 1809, the name was changed to Fort Edward. In 1814 the Fort was finally named Fort Saint Louis.
