In the hilly country of central Florida is Sebring, a town well known to motor-racing enthusiasts for the races held at the end of March and in October on the old military airfield. To the west of Sebring lies the Highland Hammock State Park.
The Children's Museum of Highlands invites children to learn about the world around them through play. Interactive exhibits and "hands-on" displays include miniature supermarket, a bank, a television station and more.

Highlands Hammock State Park features 4,896-acres of dense forest and swampland with opportunities for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. As well, there are paved roads and campgrounds within the park. Highlands Hammock opened in 1931 and is one of Florida's four original state parks. The Florida Civilian Conservation Corps operates a museum on the history of the local Civilian Corps as well as local plant and wild life.

The Sebring International Raceway is a 3.7 mile (5.9km) circuit that hosts a variety of sports car racing events throughout the year. It is perhaps most famous for the grueling "12 Hours of Sebring" race. The first race was held here in 1950 and has been the location of several important events in U.S. racing history. In 1959, it was the site of the first Formula One race in the U.S.
