Lakeland encompasses 13 lakes with opportunity in and around these lakes for fishing, boating, water skiing, golf and tennis. The largest group of buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is on the Florida Souther College campus.Spring training for the Detroit Tigers takes place at Joker Marchant Stadium.
International Sport Aviation Museum
Located on the Sun 'n Fun EAA Fly-In convention site on the southwest corner of Lakeland Linder Regional Airport, this museum displays aircraft and related memorabilia in a 20,000 square-foot facility. There are homebuilt airplanes, antique and classic aircraft, military planes, ultra-lites and other special exhibits. It also has a 1,300-square-foot library with more than 4,000 aviation books and 27,000 magazines.The displays incorporate what was formerly the Weeks Air Museum, moved from Miami.
Wings Over Miami Air Museum
The Wings Over Miami Air Museum is located in Miami Kendall Tamiami Executive Airport. Displays include military and classic aircraft.
Polk Museum of Art
Polk Museum began in 1966, currently housing nine galleries on two floors, including an outdoor sculpture garden and a permanent gallery that is home to an extensive Pre-columbian art collection.The permanent collection includes contemporary American art, European decorative arts, and Asian art. Polk Museum also offers lunchtime lectures, classes, family workshops, and guided tours.
Explorations V Children's Museum
Hands-on, kid-powered, exhibits, materials and activities are offered at the Explorations V Children's Museum. Topics include art, science, literature, health, life skills, and cultures from around the world.
Florida Air Museum at Sun 'N Fun
The Florida Air Museum at Sun 'n Fun displays a variety of aircraft and artifacts covering the history of the first 100 years of flight.
