Boca Raton is an affluent, predominantly residential community 50 miles north of Miami. The name is Spanish for "rat mouth". Its proximity to the Gulf Stream ensures a warm climate year-round. The city is known for its Mediterranean Revival buildings and numerous golf courses.
The 1927 restored Town Hall is home to the Boca Raton Historical Society. The Mediterranean Revival style building, designed by Addison Mizner, features a gold dome, cypress millwork, pecky cypress ceiling, and fan-lit windows.
Exhibits include archival materials as well as traveling exhibits ranging from history and architecture to arts, crafts, and photography.

The Art Guild of Boca Raton began in 1950, it was the grassroots for the Museum of Art. The Museum presents a wide selection of artwork, the permanent and changing exhibits are possible due to the 4,000 piece collection that the Museum draws from. The permanent collection features European sculpture, contemporary art, photography, decorative art and sculpture gardens.

The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is an environmental learning center with an elevated boardwalk through a coastal hammock, a 40-foot observation tower, outdoor saltwater tanks with sea turtles, a variety of fishes and other marine life. Indoor exhibits include reptiles, aquariums, and a variety of displays that represent local surroundings.
