Ilha de Santa Catarina is connected to the mainland by a bridge at Florianópolis. The island has a number of natural attractions with an inland lagoon and miles of beaches on the east coast. Small towns are scattered throughout the island and plenty of tourist accommodation is available.

The Lagoa da Conceição nature reserve is one of the most visited places on the island.
