Florence - City Gate

(Local Name: Porta alla Croce) The Porta alla Croce, the Cross Gate, on the Piazza Beccaria and built in 1284, is all that is left of the city wall fortifications. Inside is a badly damaged fresco by Michele di Rodolfo, "Madonna and Child with St John the Baptist and St Ambrose".
