Taza
Taza was founded by the Berbers in the fifth century and was once a fortress that guarded the route leading to the fertile lands of the west.
In the old town, situated above the modern, there are cereal markets, souks for mats, jewllery and carpets, as well as the remains of the old kasbah.

Djebel Tazzeka National Park
The Djebel Tazzeka national park has forests of cork-oaks and cedars, tall ferns, springs, waterfalls and lakes. A climb to its summit (1,980m) is well rewarded by a stunning view over the wooded mountains of Tazzeka and the snow-bound peaks of the Middle Atlas.
Friouato
The Friouato caverns reach to a depth of 180m. A staircase leads down into a veritable underground palace. Halls and galleries seem haunted by other-worldly forms-the stalactites and stalagmites reaching out into the void in a fairyland of mineral sculpture.
