Fernie and District Historical Society Museum
Fernie and District Museum was opened in 1979 in the old vicarage of the 1905 church at 502-5th Ave. and its exhibits illustrate the lives of the early pioneers in this region as well as coal-mining at the turn of the century.
In 1999 the church, needing the space for themselves, reclaimed the space leaving the Fernie and District Museum homeless. As a solution the museum divided it's collection up, displaying it in local business, in what it calls satellite exhibits. This makes walking through Fernie much more interesting with historical displays here and there, designed to compliment the hosting businesses. Look for the Fernie and District Museum exhibits throughout downtown Fernie.
