Fernie and District Historical Society Museum

Fernie and District Museum was opened in 1979 in the old vicarage of the 1905 church at 502-5th Ave. and its exhibits illustrate the lives of the early pioneers in this region as well as coal-mining at the turn of the century.
In 1999 the church, needing the space for themselves, reclaimed the space leaving the Fernie and District Museum homeless. As a solution the museum divided it's collection up, displaying it in local business, in what it called satellite exhibits.
The BC Hydro Building, a heritage building in Fernie, is the new location chosen for the museum.
