Falun - Stora Torget
In the center of Falun old and new buildings rub shoulders. In the main square (Stora Torget), which has a monument to Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson, leader of the 15th century peasant rising, are the Old Town Hall (1764), the new local government offices (1968) and the Kristine Church (17th C.; tower 1865), in Renaissance style, with a fine interior. Also in the square are the headquarters of the Stora Kopparberg mining corporation). Here too is the house in which Selma Lagerlöf lived while writing "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" and other works.
