There is good skiing in the Palandöken Daglari about 4km/2.5mi south of Erzurum. A ski-lift next to the Kayak Evi sports hotel (groups only) on the city's southern outskirts (alt. 2,200m/7,220ft) ascends to a mountain station at 3,050m/10,000ft, just below the 3,125m/10,256ft summit.
