Entrevaux Cathedral
The Cathedral of Entrevaux (built 1610-1627) is richly decorated, partly Baroque partly Classical. The main altar has a fine retable depicting the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which like the choirstalls dates from the 17th C. The "Descent from the Cross" (on the left) is ascribed to Jouvenet. On the left of the entrance stands the silver reliquary bust of St John the Baptist. Every year on the Saturday preceding June 24 this reliquary is taken to the Church of St-Jean-du-Desert, 12km/7.5mi away.
On the Sunday afternoon the solemn procession of the "St-Jeannistes", wearing local uniforms carries the bust back, running the last 100 meters through the town.
An old house in the Rue Serpente contains a small motorcycle museum. The oldest machine dates from 1901; all are in working order.
