Spalding, England Tourist Attractions

Spalding (pop. 18,200) lies in the center of the bulb-growing area of The Fens. In spring the fields are full of tulips and daffodils in bloom, attracting crowds of visitors. The trim little town with its brick-built houses is reminiscent of Holland.
The town of Spalding has a a 15th century country house, Ayscoughfee Hall, that now serves as a museum and tourist information office. There are several museums including the Bulb Museum and two notable churches.

Grimsthorpe Castle

Grimsthorpe Castle is located between Colsterworth and Bourne in the vicinity of Spalding. It has been the home of the de Eresby family since 1516. The latest addition to the castle, the North Front, was commissioned in 1715.
Inside the castle there is a collection of fine furniture and portraits of the family and the monarchs they served.

Tropical Forest

The Spalding Tropical Forest grows in a 20,000 square foot glasshouse. It contains jungle foliage, waterfalls and a wide variety of tropical plants. The whole environment is monitored by a computer system which controls the fogging, irrigation, ventilation and humidity.

Baytree Nurseries Garden Centre

The Baytree Nurseries Centre is a gardener's delight set in 32 acres. The facility includes display gardens, an owl center, a bygones museum and a playground. Good prices in the nursery stock.

Millgate - Museum of Entertainment

The Museum of Entertainment has been featured on various television programs. Its collections include music boxes, barrel, church and dance organs, pianolas, and See Tillers Royal Marionettes - the oldest fairground attraction dating from 1790.

Baytree Owl Centre

The Baytree Owl Centre offers one of Britain's largest collections of owls from all over the world.

Spalding Flower Parade and Festival

This three-day festival takes place in early May.
