Segedunum Roman Forts, Baths and Museum
Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum combines the excavated remains of the fort with hands-on museum displays to show what life was like in Roman Britain. The Roman bath-house is the only one of its kind in the country. It is a full sized reconstruction and is based on original remains discovered at Chesters Roman Fort in the central sector of Hadrian's Wall.

Bede's World (Early Northumbria Museum)
Bedes World offers an excellent insight into life in early Northumbria. Exhibits include: rare animal breeds, crops, historic re-enactments, monastic site ruins and the church of St Paul (over 1,300 years old). There are also some audio-visual displays.Of particular note is the fact that Bede, an eighth century scholar, is recorded as the first English historian.
Shipley Art Gallery
The Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead is a local gallery that features works of old masters as well as contemporary craft. The collections include: paintings, silverware, crafts, glass and pieces of local history.

Derwentcote was the center of the British steel industry in the 18th C. The steel furnace on display here is the earliest and most complete, authentic steel making furnace to have survived from the era.
Stocksfield - Cherryburn
Cherryburn is a farmhouse that was the birthplace of Thomas Bewick in 1753. Berwick is recognized as Northumberland's greatest artist, wood engraver and naturalist. An exhibition on his life includes much of his art and wood engravings.
