Moretonhampstead (pop. 1,500) is a small market town with a 17th century covered market, interesting almshouses dating from 1637, and a granite church (St Andrew's).

Moretonhampstead is located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park making it an ideal base to explore the park and the Devon countryside.
