Malton Attractions

Malton (pop. 4,000) is a little market town on the banks of the Derwent. It lies in the center of a large farming area, mainly devoted to corn-growing but also known for the breeding of racehorses. Malton has a mix of architecture such as St Michael's Church, a fine Late Norman building with a perpendicular tower. St Mary's Church, in Old Malton, is all that remains of a Gilbertine priory founded in about 1150.

From Malton follow the A64 for 18mi/29km southwest to return to York city center.
