Maidenhead (pop. 60,461) is located 6mi/10km northwest of Windsor. The town is a popular holiday resort with many boat clubs. Its railroad bridge, opened in 1838, is borne by brick arches with spans up to 131ft/40m in width.

Burnham Beeches
Burnham Beeches is an attractive area of woodland and heath near Maidenhead, which was bought by the City of London Corporation in 1879 as a place of recreation for Londoners. Dorney Wood, also popular with nature lovers, has recently been added to it.
