This Georgian townhouse in Cockermouth, built in 1745, is the birthplace of William Wordsworth. Seven of the rooms of this house on Main Street are furnished with 18th C furniture and contain personal belongings of the poet.

Eaglesfield - Dalton House
The small village of Eaglesfield was the birthplace of John Dalton, discoverer of the Atomic Theory. A plaque at Dalton house commemorates his birth and scientific work.
