Colossi of Memnon - South Colossus

The South Colossus is better preserved than the one to the north. It stands 64ft/19.59m high; the figure alone measures 52ft/15.95m, while the base (partly buried under the sand) is 13ft/3.97m high. With the crown, long since vanished, which it originally wore the total height must have been some 70ft/21m. The legs, from the sole of the feet to the knees, measure 20ft/6m; the feet themselves are 10.5ft/3.20m long. The breadth across the shoulders is 20ft/6.17m, the length of the middle finger on one hand 4.5ft/1.38m, the length of the arm from the finger tips to the elbow 15.5ft/4.76m.
