Edenton, in a slightly boastful manner, claims to be "America's Prettiest Small Town". Located on the banks of the Mattercommack Creek, Edenton is a pleasant place to visit. The town was established in 1778 and is named after Governor Charles Eden. The town boasts of over 25 homes built in the 18th and 19th Century that are still in use today.
