East St Croix - Eye to the Sky

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the $5 million dollar antenna known as the "Eye to the Sky" is 82ft/25m in diameter and weighs 260 tons. Guides at the site explain that the antenna dish is identical to nine others around the US, and all ten together form a single radio telescope sharing their data over the internet.
