Eagle Pass (pop. 27,500) is located along the Mexico border. The town developed as a result of nearby Fort Duncan, which was built in 1849 to serve as protection from American Indians.

The town is now an international gateway and tourist area, with easy access to Mexico. Fishing in the Rio Grande is also a popular past time.
