Durham - Sarah Duke Gardens

 
Looking for beautiful arrangements of flowering plants and trees? Look no further than Durham and the Sarah Duke Gardens. Considered the "crown jewel" of Duke University, these gardens are spectacular and attract over 300,000 visitors a year. The gardens are located on the campus grounds and occupy 55 acres near the Medical Center. Ellen Shipman who was considered a pioneer in American landscape design created the gardens. The Sarah Duke Gardens are considered her finest work.
