Description
(Local Name: Langbroeker Wetering) The Langbroeker Wetering is a stretch of territory along the Kromme Rijn, in which are a number of castles dating from the 13th and 14th centuries and rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. The castles (not open to the public) are reminiscent of the châteaux of the Loire and have earned this area the popular name of the "Loire of the Netherlands". Among them are Beverweerd, Sterkenburg, Moersbergen, Hardenbroek, Sandburg, Zuylenburg and Broekhuizen (built 1810 in Empire style).
