Grenen Description
3 km/2mi north of Skagen stretches the flat Grenen Promontory, Denmark's most northerly point and a favorite holiday spot, where there is an interesting Art Museum, the "Grenen Museet". Among the dunes of Grenen lies the grave of the Danish poet and writer Holger Drachmann, the "singer of the sea". Beyond Grenen Lighthouse the road ends at a parking lot, from where visitors can ride in a "sand-worm" (sandorm - a tractor drawing a passenger-carrying trailer), or else they can walk (15 minutes) to the northern tip of Jutland, where the Skagerrak and Kattegat meet. Whereas the North Beach is becoming wider the sea is constantly eroding land from the South Beach on the Kattegat coast.
