Decin is an inland port on the River Labe, located within the Bohemian Switzerland National Park (Ceske Svycarkso). Decin is an industrial city on a major trade route between the Czech Republic and Germany. On the right bank of the River Labe is the Old Town of Decin and on the left bank is Podmokly, now part of Decin.
The city's biggest
attraction is the Decin castle. A structure has stood on this location since the 14th Century, although it has undergone many reconstructions since that time. The castle served as a fort during the Seven Years War, was converted into a Renaissance Castle in the 17th Century, and was reconstructed in a Baroque style in the late 18th Century.
The Decin Castle fell into disrepair during the Soviet Reign but has recently undergone restorations. It is now home to a museum and also functions as a venue for cultural events.
