University of California at Davis

The campus of the University of California can be traced back to an agricultural school founded in 1907, which for 15 years was transferred to Berkeley as a branch of the University of California. In 1961 Davis obtained its own campus, whose total area of 5,300 acres makes it the third largest site of the University of California, after Los Angeles and Berkeley (20,000 students), and which dominates the town. Davis has also made a name for itself in California through its energy-saving program and its research projects in the sphere of solar energy.
