Fair Park, Dallas's Civic Center and scene of the annual State Fair, is dominated by the Big Tex Towers. Originally laid out for the Texas Centennial Exposition of 1936, the park contains a number of museums: the Age of Steam Museum, the Museum of Natural History, Science Place I and II, and the Museum of African-American Life and Culture. Also in the park are the art-deco Hall of State (commemorating great Texans), the Sports Stadium of the Southern Methodist University, the Cotton Bowl, the Music Hall (opera and ballet; Dallas Summer Festival) and the Dallas Aquarium. The art-deco Exhibition Hall is also a sight in itself.

Dallas World Aquarium & Zoological Garden
The Dallas World Aquarium has 87,000 gallons of saltwater exhibits. Displays includes bonnet head sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, cardinalfish, sea turtles, giant groupers and rare leafy seadragons in natural reef settings from around the world.
Dallas Horticulture Center (Texas Discovery Gardens)
Texas Discovery Gardens is home to more than seven acres of outdoor gardens including an herb and scent garden, a rose garden and other special collections. Gardens are divided up by theme. The varieties of plants here include both native and exotic species. One of the unique aspects is the sustainable methods used in the gardening. This is also the first fully certified organic public garden in Texas.On site is the Rosine Smith Sammons Butterfly House & Insectarium, where newly hatched butterflies are released daily.
Museum of Nature & Science (formerly Museum of Natural History)
The Museum of Nature and Science was created from the merger of three separate museums; the Dallas Museum of Natural History, The Science Place, and the Dallas Children's Museum. This combination has resulted in an interesting attraction for families and individuals. The museum is spread across three buildings in Fair Park.The exhibits cover a diverse range of fields and topics. The museum maintains a large permanent collection and also features traveling and changing exhibits.
African American Museum
The museum displays African American artistic, cultural and historical materials. Programs and courses in African American history and heritage are also offered by the museum.
Cotton Bowl
The Cotton Bowl stadium, following renovations in the late 2000s, can now seat over 92,000 spectators for sporting events.
Hall of State
Built in 1936, the Hall of State building has been the site for events honoring presidents, heads of state and other dignitaries.
Science Place (Closed)
This attraction merged in 2006 to create Museum of Nature & Science.
