Velke Losiny Attractions

Velke Losiny, in the Jeseniky Mountains, is a spa town. One of the most prominent features of the town is the Zerotin Chateau. The Zerotin family was prominent in Velke Losiny between the late 15th Century and the early 19th Century. They were also the initiators in the 17th Century witch hunt that swept through this area. The witch trials took place in the Hall of Justice in the Zerotin Chateau, where many innocent people, primarily women, were accused of witchcraft and sentenced to burn at the stake. This room is left off the official tour of the Zerotin Chateau. Nonetheless, this horseshoe shaped sgraffitoed Renaissance Chateau is worth a visit.
