Roznov pod Radhostem - Wallachien Open-Air Folk Museum Attractions
The main reason for visiting the town of Roznov pod Radhostem is for the Wallachien Open-Air Folk Museum. The Wallachien people, who traditionally inhabited the Beskydy Mountains northeast of Roznov, were nomadic herders. Although there are few left, these people still maintain their customs and dialect. The Open-Air Museum shows the culture and way of life of the Wallachiens through three different sections.
The Wooden Village is generally regarded as the most impressive, with wooden structures dating from the mid 1700s, some of which contain establishments that are open for business. This can be a good stop for lunch. The second section is the Wallachian Village, which allows visitors to step back in time and see what traditional life was like for these people. The third section is the Mill Valley. Guides dressed in period costume lead visitors through an old water mill.
