Nove Mesto nad Metuji Attractions

Just south of the town of Nachod in Eastern Bohemia is the town of Nove Mesto nad Metuji. Here visitors will find some interesting old buildings and a castle that has been uniquely renovated. On the main square in Nove Mesto nad Metuji are some 16th Century houses, the Pernstejn Castle, built at the start of the 16th Century, the town hall, and an early 16th Century Gothic Church.

The Castle, built by the Pernstejn family is the highlight of the Nove Mesto nad Metuji. At the start of the 20th Century it was purchased by wealthy businessman Josef Barton, who renovated the castle extensively. Entered by a bridge that spans the moat, visitors will find statues of dwarves, done by Matthias Braun. Inside the castle the interior furnishings, some of which are cubist, are quite a contrast to the building itself, and makes for an interesting tour.
