Description
East of Trypití, above the precipitous north coast, is the site of ancient Phylakope, with the foundations of houses of the third and second millennia B.C. and Mycenaean walls of about 1500 B.C.

Phylakope is the most important center of population in Minoan times. The ancient city was built in three phases. Next to the archeological site is the spectacular Paparanga cave.
