Granma Province

Located in southeastern Cuba, the Province of Granma is full of history and natural beauty. The towns and mountains of Granma have played a role in the country's history from the wars of Independence to the Revolution.

The Gran Parque Nacional Sierra Maestra is home to some of Cuba's most rugged terrain and highest peaks. This mountainous area was used as the headquarters for Fidel Castro during the Revolution, and where Che Guevara did his broadcasts. In addition to the history the mountains also offer some wonderful hiking opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

Bayamo, the capital city of Granma, has been the center of political upheaval and revolts in Cuba. History is remembered here through the numerous parks and monuments, which pay tribute to war heroes and historical events.
