Veli Losinj Attractions

Veli Losinj is a smaller quieter town than Mali Losinj and it sees less tourists. It feels more like a traditional fishing village than a tourist resort with narrow cobble stone streets. There are a few more cultural attractions in Veli Losinj. One of the town's main sights is the 15th Century Church of St Anthony Abbot with a collection of 15th to 18th Century religious paintings by artists such as Bartolomeo Vivarini, Bernardo Strozzi, and Francesco Hayez. Included in these paintings is Vivarini's Madonna with the Child and Saints. Also of note in Veli Losinj is the 15th Century Fortress Tower, which offers great views over the town and sea. The tower is also home to a small museum.
