Lovran Attractions
Just 5km / 3mi from Opatija, Lovran is one of the most high end summer resorts in Croatia. Protected from the cold winds by Mt Ucka and spread out along the oceanfront, Lovran enjoys a mild climate. It was once a more popular winter destination than summer destination, during the first half of the 20th Century.
The old town of Lovran is fortified, although only a few sections of the original wall remain. Some of the main attractions in this area are the Romanesque bell tower and the 14th Century Baroque style Church of St George (Sv Jurai), located on the main square. The modern area outside of the old town reaches along the coast to Opatija. There are all kinds of hotels and tourist facilities.
Some of the annual events held in Lovran include St George's Day Celebrations in April, the Fishermen's Feasts during the summer months, Marunada in October, and a Yachting Regatta in November.
