Klanjec Attractions

The small hamlet of Klanjec, about 55km / 33mi northwest of Zagreb, is known for being the home of sculptor Antun Augustincic. His most famous work is the Monument to Peace, found in front of the UN building in New York. Klanjec pays tribute to this famous home town resident through the Antun Augustincic Museum and Gallery. Here visitors will find some of his works and learn about his life.
Also of note in Klanjec are the 17the Century Franciscan monastery and baroque style Church of St Mary. A monument created by Robert Franges-Mihanovic and dedicated to poet Antun Mihanovic, composer of the Croatian national anthem, can be seen in the main square.
